In a previous exercise you learned to redefine existing HTML tags using CSS. Now, you will create entirely new styles to be used over and over throughout your site.

To get an idea of the benefit of using styles - consider these tutorials you are working with now. Whenever you see a file name - it has a unique color. Folder names have a different color. So do the vocabulary terms new to each exercise. All of the color and size changes you see employ CSS. That way, if I suddenly decide to make the background pink in all of these tutorial pages, I don't have go through and change the hundreds and hundreds of file names from pink to another color. I don't even have to make my lazy, no-good TA do it for me. I just change the CSS and, VIOLA! Here is a list of the different custom styles, to date, you have seen in these tutorials:
