X and Y Positioning in Flash

Up is Down and Down Is Up

In the example below, the circle is moving back and forth on the x axis. If you check out the Properties window at the same time, you'll notice the x Position changes as you'd expect. X gets larger as the object moves to the right, and smaller as the object moves to the left:

Now have a look at as circle moves up and down on the y axis. Check the Properties window: The y Position is behaving opposite of what you'd expect! Y gets larger as the object moves DOWN, and smaller as the object moves UP:
