Create a Selection with the Magic Wand Tool

You can certainly use your own image, but this original is relatively easy to work with if you're new to bitmap programs like Fireworks or Photoshop. Speaking of which, you can use Photoshop if you know what you're doing, but this lesson walk you through Fireworks.

Start by using the Magic Wand Tool to select the washed-out sky area and delete it:

  1. Adjust the tolerance to grab as much of the grey color as possible
  2. Expand the selection by one pixel
  3. Feather the selection by one pixel
  4. Press Delete on your keyboard
